Stuff We Want to Discuss – The Weekly Gaming Round-up (11/03/19-17/03/19)

Here are our thoughts on some of the major gaming news stories from the past week. The selection of references is based entirely on personal interest level. End of. Also; it might not be weekly.

Alright, let’s dance on this week’s grave.

New Sonic! New Sonic!

There’s a new Sonic game in development.

What? That’s all we know. So in lieu of any detail, please take a look at this Team Sonic Racing animation from the guys behind Sonic Mania Adventures. It’s rad. [via SXSW Gaming]

Dante’s Voice Actor States Hideaki Itsuno Nearly Quit Capcom

During an interview led by Toy Bounty Hunters, voice actor Reuben Langdon, the voice of Devil May Cry’s Dante, stated that Devil May Cry 3 and 4 Director Hideaki Itsuno almost quit Capcom over the direction the series was going.

According to Langdon, Itsuno was not content with the DmC: Devil May Cry change in tone and style, leading Capcom to effectively have to promise him full control over the direction of the next entry.

Our full review of Devil May Cry 5 goes up tomorrow so be sure to drop by and see how Itsuno-san did! [via Toy Bounty Hunters]

Where on Google Earth is Carmen Sandiego?

Kids! You remember Carmen Sandiego, right? Guess not. Alright oldies, gather round.

Old interactive educational tool, Carmen Sandiego is back and once again you’re tasked with tracking her down. On Google Earth!

This throwback special is available to enjoy for free and involves the usual interviewing randos to track down the good ol’ thief. It’s short and sweet and probably a waste of time for anyone who doesn’t remember what it is. [via Rock Paper Shotgun]

Every Man’s Sky

UK developer, Hello Games, have announced their next major upgrade to space exploration powerhouse, No Man’s Sky. This time with actual multiplayer.

With early days of overpromising and underdelivering long behind them, the team have been consistently providing various high-quality free updates. Next in line, releasing this summer, is No Man’s Sky: Beyond. Here’s the gist from the horse’s mouth:

“No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Whilst this brings people together like never before, and has many recognisable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO – it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players.” – Sean Murray, Hello Games

I really enjoyed No Man’s Sky’s last major update and, having fallen out with the early build, NEXT really showed me how to enjoy the game in way I couldn’t before. Here’s to the continued expansion of what’s become a fantastic game. [via Official No Man’s Sky website]
